How do I set a default internet connection for Windows Internet Explorer?

I've just installed a wireless broadband router to this computer and attached an adapter to another. The adapter's connected fine to the other computer and the network connection is fine, but my internet on it won't work as the default connection is set to an old network connection which no longer works. I've deleted this as my default and tried to select the new one, but non of the options let me select the adapter as y default. Any tips? 10 points to most informativeHow do I set a default internet connection for Windows Internet Explorer?
