The default template is set to multiple spacing and it adds a space between paragraphs of the same style automatically. I want to change it so the default is single line spacing and so no additional space is added, rather than having to change it by clicking 'Paragraph'; and making the changes myself every time. How do I set Paragraph settings as default for Microsoft Office 2007 Word?
Try this:
1. Click in an affected paragraph.
2. Click the Home tab on the Ribbon.
3. Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Styles section.
4. The style for your paragraph should have a bold box around it.
5. Hover the cursor over the style. A listbox arrow should appear. Click it.
6. Select Modify from the list box.
7. Click the Format button and select Paragraph.
8. Set the Line Spacing list box to Single.
9. Set the After combination box to zero.
10. Click OK.
11. If you want this to carry forward to other documents based on the template this one is based on, click the radio button for New Documents Based On This Template.
12. OK out of everything.
All paragraphs in the document with that style should adjust themselves.
When you close your document, you may see a warning message asking if you want to save the changes to Normal.dotx. This is an anti-virus measure, intended to alert you that something has changed in Normal.dotx. In this case, you made the change, so you want to accept it.
That should do it.How do I set Paragraph settings as default for Microsoft Office 2007 Word?
I had the same issue when I moved to 2007! It is so annoying!
Ok, this is how you do it..
Click the ';Change Styles'; button in the Home Tab, then ';Style Set';, ';Word 2003';, then click ';Change Styles'; again, but click ';Set as Default';
You're all set!
Click the paragraph spacing dropdown from the ribbon. Choose ';Line Spacing Options'; to open the larger dialog.
Change the space ';after'; to zero.
Change the ';line spacing'; to single.
Hit the DEFAULT button at the bottom of the dialog.
Hit the YES button to confirm that you want to save these changes for all documents.
